Help The Bees In 3 Easy Steps
Helping out our bee friends is much easier than it sounds. It all comes down to 3 simple steps we can take to keep them happy and healthy.
1. Plant pollinator-friendly flowers, herbs and produce to attract bees, butterflies, beetles and more, so that you can get the most blooms in your garden. We offer pollinator-friendly flower seeds here.
2. Grow organically. This means using environmentally-friendly pest control to discourage slugs, earwigs, aphids and other garden pests from destroying those plants you worked so hard to cultivate. Try any of these great eco-friendly methods from emagazine.com!
3. Place water sources in your garden to encourage pollinators to stay longer by using water features like gently-flowing fountains or even just a shallow dish of cool water. You can add some stones to the dish so that the bees have a place to land while they quench their thirst.
Some tips:
It's ideal to keep water sources in spots with shade, which offers busy bees a welcome reprieve from the sun.
To discourage mosquitos from turning your bees' drinking water into a breeding ground, dump and refresh the water a few times a week, or use moving water with a pump/fountain.
